Charles H. Palmer was listed as a Constable in Township 1 as early as 1910 and into the 1920’s. The U.S. Census for 1930 lists him as Chief of Police Martinez, a postion he held until 1939.

William M. Veale was the Undersheriff of Contra Costa County. His father Richard R. Veale was the elected Sheriff 1895-1935.
