on page 35.

14k gold Sheriff of Nevada Co. Cal. Presented to George R. Carter who was elected Sheriff in 1927. The badge was made of Nevada County gold and was presented on Saturday January 1, 1927. This badge is pictured in Witherell’s book, “California’s Best” on page 27 and in

This 14k gold badge was presented to San Francisco Police Officer John J. McLaughlin by fellow officers of the Harbor Police Station for “Act of Bravery on December 25, 1927. McLaughlin was appointed to the department on
October 1, 1924.
The badge is hallmarked Irvine & Jachens and marked 14k.
