Very rare ribbon badge from Sacramento Co. Sheriff's office. Signed by Sheriff James McClatchey 1865. Unused and never issued.  According to the Sacramento Sheriff's office this is the oldest artifact known to exist.  Reverse of appointment paper is shown below.

Pictured below, 18k gold presentation badge to David Ahern, 1910-1914. Badge was designed by his wife and jeweler made.
